Using nix on the desktop?
Just thought I'd see how many of us are using some form of nix on the desktop and what flavours. Even if it's just partial use.
I'd first tried it a couple of years back with Redhat 9 I think it was. To be honest although the install was simple enough i never really got to grips with using it. Anyhow just very recently I decided to give it another go, having heard a lot about Ubuntu and having tried the liveCD (Where everything just worked out the box. No hardware conflicts etc.) I gave it a go. So now I'm dual booting with XP and have to say I'm really liking it. I couldn't really leave Windows behind. However as i say, I am really enjoying having Linux as an option. Things seem to be a lot more user friendly than when I last tried Linux. Particularly one of the things I never got the hang of last time. Installing apps. For most thing you might want which are not there by default it's just a click or two away now. If not there's apt-get, though I know not all distros use the same methods. Anyhow this time it's pretty pleasurable and I thought I'd see if there's any others here with anything to say.
